Brenda Dickinson
This will be my 2nd time running the NYC Marathon. I “run for the cause, not the applause”
and seek meaningful charities encouraging me to complete a challenging 26.2 miles. Last year, I
had the opportunity to hear Chris Herren speak, and having young boys, his story really hit
home. You never truly know the demons someone is facing. As a Human Resource Manager, I
see a little bit of everything. The personal battles people face outside of work often spill over
into the workplace. Since I am focused on mental health and helping connect individuals to
resources, I applied to run with Project Herren. We all hope we never face addiction, but it’s
refreshing to know help is available if the situation becomes a reality.
