What do you do for a living?
Real Estate Broker/Owner

How did you first connect with Herren Project?
My son attended Herren Wellness Recovery Center. While reaching out for my own support to help with dealing with my sons addiction I found Herren Project You-Tube videos and join the one of the online support groups over two years ago.

What is your interest in/connection to recovery?
I would like to give hope and courage through my story, to others who are struggling with their loved one’s addiction journey.

Who is someone who inspires you?
Actually, my son inspires me. Watching him struggle with his own addiction for over 10 years. In and out of 7 rehab centers, 4 overdoes that should have taken his life, multiple sober living communities with so many relapses, and losing friends and family relationships due to his addiction but he never gave up. He would always pick himself back up and continues to get to recovery. He is now 3 years clean and sober. Working for a large recovery center as a business developer and helping other to get help to fight their disease.

What’s your favorite pastime or hobby?
I enjoy spending time at my camp in the summer kayaking, family cookouts with my children and grandchildren. I enjoy cooking, reading, games, gardening, etc.

What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of everyone who has fought the fight of substance use disorder and beat it. They are the strongest most determined people I know. None of us (who haven’t dealt with it ourselves) will ever know what they have been through every single day to get sober and stay sober.

What does serving as a Herren Project Ambassador mean to you?
To help educate my community about the disease of addiction, what it does to families as well as the person dealing with substance use disorder and to give hope that recovery is possible.

I’m a volunteer for a local organization who does fundraising throughout the year to help with the costs of rehabs, sober living and detox center for those in need. I’m hoping to be able to combine these roles to change a life or two. That would make my heart full.
