What do you do for a living?
Commercial Lines Account Manager at USI Insurance Services
How did you first connect with Herren Project?
I first connected with Herren Project through another teammate. I was looking for a running group to join. I had never heard of Herren Project and up until this point I had never openly shared my story.
What is your interest in/connection to recovery?
The serendipity of being pointed in the direction of the Herren Project, is the teammate who connected me had no idea that the first five years of my life I was raised by parents with a drug addiction. I lost my father to an overdose and shortly after such a devastating loss, my mother gave me up for adoption.
Who is someone who inspires you?
My Herren Project teammates are inspirational to me. I have witnessed them find ways to overcome every obstacle. They don’t just talk about what’s important to them; they act upon it. My teammates are innovative and forward-thinking. They dedicate their lives to this cause for the better of everyone, not just themselves.
What’s your favorite pastime or hobby?
My favorite hobby is running of course. Running for this charity has become a way of life for me. I have found all the motivation and social connection I’ve ever needed within the running community.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my two children. They inspire me to be the best version of me to make a difference every day. They spark my passion to fight substance disorder and to keep families together through the work of Herren Project.
What does serving as a Herren Project Ambassador mean to you?
Serving as a Herren Project Ambassador is an honor. Herren Project is an organization that is near and dear to me and I’m proud to lead the way in fighting the stigma around substance use. I have found my purpose through the work of Herren Project.
