What do you do for a living?
I am a recovery coach for Duffy Health Center in Cape Cod, Ma. I support individuals who are or have struggled with Substance use disorder. As a recovery coach, I am a peer, motivator, educator, and friend that supports multiple pathways to recovery.

How did you first connect with Herren Project?
I connected with Herren Project through my own journey battling with addiction on Sept 21, 2019.  My sister and her husband had heard about Herren Project and in a last-ditch effort reached out to them looking for support. Herren Project met me where I was at, which was North Carolina at the time, and held my family’s hand by helping them get me to Massachusetts and into a detox, then long-term treatment, then a sober house. I can proudly say today that I have had uninterrupted sobriety since but understand I cannot do this alone.

What is your interest in/connection to recovery?
I understand and recognize that I cannot stay sober alone. I also realize that in order to remain sober that it is my responsibility and duty to help support others as so many have done for me.

Who is someone who inspires you?
My sister inspires me. She handles life with such dignity and grace. She has high expectations for those in her life but has high expectations for herself as well and never forgets her true values and morals. She is a woman of Faith. She has a career, she is a mother, daughter, sister, wife, and friend. She is truly one of the kindest human beings I know and has never, ever stopped loving and supporting me on my journey. She is my best friend.

What’s your favorite pastime or hobby?
I love being outdoors whether it’s spending time at the beach or just taking a walk. I enjoy being in nature, especially with family and friends.

What are you most proud of?
I am proud that I do my best each day to give back to those in my life. I am a proud Mother, Aunt, Daughter, Sister, and friend today and try my best to never, ever take that for granted.

What does serving as a Herren Project Ambassador mean to you?
Serving as a Herren Project Ambassador to me is a gift and privilege that I can share with those willing to accept it. It’s a gift of hope, a gift of a new life.
