Liam’s Anchor

It is Hope That Anchors the Soul

Liam’s Anchor was started in 2019 by the Cunningham family in honor and memory of their beloved Liam. Liam was lost to a drug overdose on September 27, 2016. Though it is hard to describe Liam in a few words, he was kind, sensitive, compassionate, charismatic and funny.

In 2014, Liam and his friend, Mark Franks, started a small apparel company, using an anchor Liam created and patented with the hooks in the shape of the Cape. Liam’s dream was to have his own apparel company one day featuring his Cape anchor. Sue, Phil, and Katie Cunningham, along with Liam’s girlfriend, Sara, started Liam’s Anchor to honor his spirit and carry on his legacy of helping others.

Baseball hats and car decals are available with Liam’s anchor in purple, the color of addiction awareness and recovery with Herren Project inscribed on the back. The net proceeds of all sales are donated to Herren Project in order to support our mission of education, outreach, advocacy and treatment for addiction and recovery.

Give the Gift of Healing

Herren Project’s healing package initiative started in 2016 as a way to give the gift of warmth, support and compassion to families nationwide. Herren Project healing packages deliver supplies to recovery scholarship recipients taking the first step in their recovery, provide hope to family members struggling with the impact of addiction and healing to those who have lost a loved one to addiction.

  • Grief Packages
  • Family Packages
  • Recovery Packages

Now a yearly tradition at Herren Project, we designate, Giving Tuesday, the first Tuesday following Thanksgiving, as our day of hope and healing. We use Giving Tuesday as a way to raise money to fund this important initiative while also as a way to give back in other ways. A group of volunteers come together on Giving Tuesday to put packages together so we can distribute them to individuals and families in the upcoming year. Interested in getting involved? Fill out the volunteer registration form. Have a person you want to send a healing package? Reach out to development@herrenproject.org.

Give A Bed

If you work at an alcohol and drug addiction treatment facility, your organization can make an even bigger impact by participating in Herren Project’s Give A Bed program. Through this program, detox centers, inpatient and outpatient treatment centers and residential facilities commit to donating one bed a year for a Herren Project client identified by our recovery team.

Oftentimes, individuals seeking treatment do not have insurance or the financial means to get the help they need and deserve. Herren Project works everyday to bridge that gap and help individuals get into treatment, regardless of their circumstances. We hope you will join us in this effort.

Donate a bed for drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Fill out the partnership application below today and a member of our team will be in touch. All applicants must be in operation for at least two years and be JCAO or CARF certified.
