Moira Petrocelli

Where do you call home? Hull, MA

What do you do for a living? I am currently a server at a highly successful restaurant.

How did you first connect with Herren Project? My first introduction to the HP came while in treatment in 2018.  The documentary, Unguarded, was shown.  In January of this year, I found myself back in treatment and in dire straits financially and emotionally.  I sought support from the HP by the suggestion of my case worker at RCA Danvers.

What is your interest in/connection to recovery? My interest in recovery is to nurture my sobriety to improve my overall health and wellbeing while striving to reach my fullest potential. My connection to recovery is both personal and professional.  I had been working in the recovery field as a recovery specialist and a sober house manager until my last relapse. I felt good about myself carrying a giving role in others’ recovery.

Who is someone who inspires you? I am inspired by those in recovery. From the newcomers to the sages. Resiliency, determined and faith.  Personally, my parents have taught me self-worth, self-respect, humanity for others and to be the best version of myself for others and me.

What’s your favorite pastime or hobby? My favorite pastime is sports.  In participating in many sports from my early youth, high school, college and adulthood team sports and individual competitive sports such as golfing, tennis and marathons have provided fulfillment.  As a mother, I thoroughly loved being in the stands or the sidelines cheering on my children in their sporting activities.

What are you most proud of? I am by far most proud of my children and being part of their development and watching them grow into the amazing young adults they are and being present in their journey through life.

What does serving as a Herren Project Ambassador mean to you? Serving as an HP Ambassador gives me the opportunity to give back to a project that gave me hope again. To passionately participate in a project that literally changes lives is a gift and honor to be a part of.  I am forever grateful for the opportunity to be a member of such a wonderful, lifesaving project and participate in the HP mission.
