ROAR

Each year, Herren Project joins the Ride for Opioid Addiction Recovery (ROAR) event on Cape Cod — a 50-mile motorcycle ride that amplifies community, compassion, and commitment to recovery. What began as a local effort to raise awareness has evolved into a powerful movement that unites people of all ages in a shared effort to uplift one another and celebrate recovery.

Since 2018, ROAR’s generosity has enabled the Herren Project to provide recovery housing and coaching scholarships to 70 individuals on Cape Cod. These scholarships offer more than financial assistance; they create pathways to stability, connection, and long-term recovery.

This year, the founders of ROAR, Jamie and Karen Pina, presented Herren Project with a $25,000 check, ensuring that people across Cape Cod continue to have access to the resources they need to heal and rebuild their lives. Jamie has seen firsthand the power of these scholarships through his own son, who has now celebrated over eight years in recovery, thanks to the Herren Project. Since 2018, ROAR has donated more than $135,000 to Herren Project, an extraordinary testament to their ongoing dedication to supporting recovery.

ROAR Cape Cod Check

This year’s event carried a very special moment when one of Herren Project’s own alumni and now a recovery coach, Aubrey Wilsey, took the stage to share his story and present on behalf of the organization.

“I know firsthand the difference your commitment makes because I was once a person receiving a Herren Project scholarship. That support gave me a chance.” Aubrey Wilsey

On October 17th, when Jamie and Karen visited our home office in Tiverton, RI, founder Chris Herren and Executive Director Bonnie Sawyer took a moment to honor their lasting impact, presenting them with the first official WAVEMAKER shirt. Being a WAVEMAKER is about creating ripples of hope and change in communities and forwarding the mission of Herren Project, and without a doubt, Jamie and Karen Pina are doing just that.

ROAR Wavemakers

We couldn’t be more appreciative of Jamie, Karen, and everyone involved with ROAR for their dedication to the cause and the wonderful work they do. We are grateful to partner with them, helping others to find the gift of recovery they deserve.

Next year will mark the 9th anniversary of this incredible event. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Falmouth High School.  If you’d like to participate in the event or attend, you can learn more on the ROAR Cape Cod website.

What is ROAR

ROAR is a 50-mile scenic motorcycle ride that raises funds for Cape Cod individuals in need of transitional structured housing moving forward in their continuum of addiction recovery and care.
