$2,000 Grant Award
Miller High School, Corpus Christi, TX
This event will be similar to a previous successful event held at the Miller High School. The carnival will be an alternative to events that involve alcoholic substances. Student council advisors will be begin the event with a slide show of the impact that driving while intoxicated has cause on families. Guest speakers from the local rehabilitation center in Corpus Christi will also give real life examples of how alcoholism has changed their lives. After this, the students will be able to play carnival games such as ring toss, giant bowling, sack races and bean bag toss. Other games will include volleyball, basketball, dancing and video games. Carnival food will be served (hot dogs, nachos, cotton candy, and sodas). Senior T-shirts will distributed at the finally of the event. Although this event seems very simple, the students do not have the financial budgets as other schools to congratulate the seniors on their hard work. The school color of Miller High School is purple and these students are “Purple and Proud” and are very deserving of any monetary donation from your organization.

Sandwich High School, Sandwich, MA
Sandwich High School students are PROUD to wear the Blue Knight Blue and White colors. But for the chance to build a safe After Prom Event, we are PROUD to switch our colors to PURPLE.
The PTSA works all year to create a fabulously fun, drug- and alcohol-free environment for the juniors, seniors and their guests to continue celebrating their prom night. We transform the high school into an incredible, theme-based venue with activities, raffles, food and entertainment, all free of charge to the students. Over 300 students – juniors, seniors and their dates – consistently attend this all night party.
$500 Grant Award
Monarch High School/Community After Prom Parents Association (CAPPA), Louisville, CO
We are a 501(c)3 organizations whose only function is to put on the After Prom party for the high school with the goal of providing a safe, fun, substance-free event. Our party aims to be over the top! Our committee of more than 30 students and parents is passionate about trying to attract as many juniors and seniors and their dates to our After Prom event as possible.
We like to get students engaged in the process early to get their ideas and assistance. A dozen or so joined the committee this year helping on a weekly basis with decorations and event fundraising and publicity. The art club helps with the mural making. Business students help with our twitter campaign where students can win gift cards prior to the event just by re-tweeting and following messages. This helps create excitement and awareness for the event. Other students help with getting our messages on school announcements and even hanging posters.
As a mother of three I truly appreciate there are organizations like the Herren Project promoting a message of positive choices when it comes to substance abuse.
