This training will explore racism through the lens of trauma and toxic stress. Racism occurs on many levels – personal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural. Trainers will discuss how to identify racism and what you can do about it. The training will explore the use of self-care to address trauma symptoms and support overall wellness in the face of racial trauma.

Speaker: Sean Rose, M.Ed.
Sean M. Rose, M.Ed., has more than 25 years of experience in the human service sector, working with families and communities, and advocating for their needs. He has held various leadership roles in the public sector, private organizations, and municipalities. As a long-standing advocate he has successfully partnered with schools, political leaders, and emergency services to overcome issues of all kinds. Over the course of his career, Sean has successfully enabled youth, families and communities to overcome barriers and meet their full potential. Sean is also the founder and co-owner of Point School Puerto Rico and is the President & CEO of Thrive Support and Advocacy.
Speaker: Stacey Forrest, M.Ed.
Stacey Forrest, M.Ed., is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Thrive Support & Advocacy, a non-profit that specializes in support for people with developmental disabilities. As an experienced administrator in both mental health, human services, and special education settings, Stacey maintains a special focus on organizational change initiatives, including trauma-informed practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion education and implementation, and strategic planning. Stacey currently oversees community-based support programs and has expertise in oversight of several mental health treatment options and modalities. Stacey has two decades of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families struggling with trauma symptoms, mental health issues, and behavioral challenges. Stacey is also a consultant for the Center for Trauma Training, utilizing an internationally known trauma framework “Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency” (ARC) model. Stacey assists agencies with adopting trauma-informed treatment models, as well as presents on this topic nationwide.
