Bonnie Sawyer
Bonnie Sawyer is from North Kingstown, RI, and is the Executive Director of Herren Project. Bonnie has been with Herren Project in almost every role since 2012, helping transform Herren Project into a leader in the nonprofit addiction space. Bonnie is not a runner. In fact, she has only run when it’s been to support the cause of addiction and the work Herren Project does. Bonnie has one simple reason to be running these 26.2 miles, and that is to honor and remember the thousands of people that have touched her life over the past 10 years. Addiction is not easy to overcome, and this marathon will not be either, but witnessing the power of recovery is what fuels Bonnie’s purpose in the work she does every day. When the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon presented itself, she knew there was no more powerful way to honor and celebrate her 10 years with Herren Project than to run. She will carry the power of recovery and the strength of every individual and family that make up the Herren Project community with her to the finish line and hopes she will inspire others to take the first step. Bonnie is the wife of Tim, who has also overcome addiction. She is also the proud mother of her children Chad, Abigail, and Ben and the newest additions, a daughter-in-law Brittany and grandpuppy Mia. Her favorite things to do are spend time with her family, travel, do puzzles, and watch sunrises and sunsets.
