Jane Dowd
My name is Jane Dowd, and I am from Worcester, Massachusetts. I was born in Worcester and have lived here all my life. The city of Worcester is very special to me. I graduated from Burncoat High School and Assumption University. I came back to my alma mater and I am the guidance counselor and Student Council advisor at Burncoat High School. I am a proud Burncoat Patriot and love our school and our community.
This Boston Marathon will be my third official marathon. For the past two marathons, I ran on behalf of the Martin Richard Foundation, and this year, I am proud to run on behalf of the Herren Project. Both foundations are based on the principles of gratitude, understanding, support, and recovery. I feel blessed to run this year for the Herren Project. I have seen first-hand the impact it has had on families, including my own. This year, I will be running in honor of my brother-in-law, Dan Brunelle, and all he does to help others fight addiction and in memory of my beautiful sister, Maura, who left us way too soon. I have no doubt she will be with me every step of the way!
None of this would be possible without the support of my family. I am grateful for my parents, Bert and Nancy Curtin, and my wonderful sisters Jennifer, Katie, and Meg, as well as my husband William and children, Maggie, Patrick, and Quinn. When I hit the pavement on April 15th, I am beyond grateful and proud that I will get to run alongside my daughter, Maggie. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you, Herren Project, for welcoming us to the team.
