The 2022 Gorham Savings Bank Maine Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay features an out-and-back course with rolling hills and views of the Portland skyline, the Back Cove, Casco Bay, and peak fall foliage. The Marathon is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon qualifier. The Half Marathon is also USATF certified and the Marathon Relay is a unique 2 to 4-person marathon-length event. As a nonprofit race, the Gorham Savings Bank Maine Marathon donates 40% of its gross profits to charitable organizations in our community. Over $5.8 million has been donated since 1997.
Portland is a great city for runners, their families, and friends, and marathon weekend the perfect time to explore! There’s no place like Maine in the fall—crisp clear weather, beautiful fall foliage, and plenty of opportunities to check out our restaurants and breweries (29 of them!). Come early or stay an extra day to explore the city and the region, whether that leads you to ferry rides, fried clams, or saving your legs by taking the Brew Bus. On race day, there is plenty of parking near the start/finish, so your fans can come and go, and it’s also close enough to walk to from downtown hotels. The Visit Portland website has plenty of information to help you get started and they’ll also be at the expo to help with last-minute planning.
