My Why

I’m running the Boston Marathon for the Herren Project in honor of my family and for everyone still fighting the battle of addiction. I know firsthand the impact addiction has—not just on the individual, but on an entire family. It has touched every part of my life: my mom, dad, two brothers, and me. Addiction doesn’t discriminate, and my family is living proof.

Today, we are deeply grateful to be sober and walking the path of recovery together. The odds were stacked against us, but we made it through—and I want others to know that recovery is possible. There is hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel. If my family can overcome addiction, so can others.

By sharing my story, I hope to plant seeds of hope for those who are struggling—and even for those who don’t yet realize they need help. I was fortunate to be surrounded by people in recovery, which made it easier to recognize that I needed to change. Not everyone has that support. That’s why every dollar raised for the Herren Project matters. If it helps even one person find recovery, that’s reason enough.
