My Why
The 2026 Boston Marathon will be my first marathon, and I am very grateful that I get to run it with Herren Project.
My journey in recovery started with a phone call and a moment of willingness to ask for help. I had no idea what I was doing or what I was getting myself into, but I knew it had to be better than my current situation. A few years ago, Chris Herren spoke at my high school and that same night I ended up getting kicked out of school. I wasn't willing to listen then; however, I now know the meaning of his message: I don't have to struggle alone, and we can recover.
Running for Herren Project gives me an opportunity to help someone like me. It's an opportunity to help change someone's life for the better. I am now three years into my own recovery journey, and I have a life second to none. It is an honor to be a part of this community, and I am so pumped to cross the finish line in April!!
