Dan McQuillan
I have been running for 5 years and this will be my 2nd NYC Marathon. I am a High School Social Studies Teacher in Manhattan and I love my job and my students so much. Chris Herren spoke at Suffern High School when I was a sophomore. I never thought his words would carry so much weight in my own life.
I am running this race extremely motivated. I am running this race for my family who have been through so much the past few years. For my dad, who is a recovering alcoholic and is taking it one day at a time. I am running for my mom, who held our family together while my dad was in rehab.
I am also running for my siblings, who have been brave and courageous through all the turbulence. I will be running empowered, and grateful. I am thankful for the Herren Project, and the people who make recovery possible for families like mine.
