I am a 10-year cancer survivor from Stage 3 colon cancer. I was overweight and out of shape and sadly it took cancer to motivate me. My first goal was to run a mile. I slowly built on that until I could do a 5k and then a 10k, a half marathon and then a marathon. Then I thought that I would try a triathlon and soon I had the goal to do Kona.
After teaming with Ironman Foundation and fulfilling my dream, I looked for my next motivation. I decided to see if I could run the six major marathons. I can run but I’m not a great runner, so I needed a way to get into these races. I searched for a charity that had to be something that I believed in and meant something to me. You see, I have a 31 year-old son that has battled addiction for 15 years. Organizations like Herren Project, that help people who want to get better, was one that I could truly support.
