Dylan Melisaratos
I’m running the NYC Marathon in honor of my late aunt, Michelle, who lost her battle with addiction in 2023. Michelle was incredibly special to me – she was the one who gave me the name Dylan – and at her memorial, I promised to carry on her story, inspired by the quote, “No day shall erase you from the memory of time.” To honor her memory, I’m raising funds for the Herren Project, which supports individuals and families affected by addiction. The connection felt especially meaningful, as the organization’s purple colors were Michelle’s favorite and its founder, former NBA player Chris Herren, shares my love for basketball. Through this effort, I hope to raise awareness, support recovery, and help others find the healing and resources they deserve.
