I am thrilled to be running the New York City Marathon on November 3rd with Team Herren Project! I've
been running with THP since 2017, but this is my first marathon. I am running in memory of my cousin
Nicole, and for the millions of Americans and families that face the tragic reality of addiction.
Fourteen years ago, Nicky lost her battle with addiction at just 23. Nicky was effervescent: warm, kind,
silly, and confident. She carried her beauty effortlessly. Her addiction took that light and ease from her,
but all those who love her remember her as she was before. Sadly, in her death, she became a statistic. But
to us, she was one of a kind.
It means the world to me to honor Nicky's memory in a positive way while representing this organization
and its work.
