Maggie Dowd Boston Marathon Team

Maggie Dowd

I grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts graduating from Doherty Memorial High School in June of 2022. During high school, I played field hockey and softball. I loved playing field hockey for my aunt, Meg Brunelle, who introduced me to Herren Project. I went on to study Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where I also played Division 1 field hockey in the America East Conference. In 2023, our team was America East Regular Season Champs! It was an extremely successful and historic year for our program. Following my passion for helping people and playing high-caliber field hockey under Coach Shannon LeBlanc has been incredible.

My connection with Herren Project has been very important to me and my family. During high school, I served as a Herren Project Youth Ambassador and had the opportunity to work with students across the nation, spreading our message about mental health and substance-free living. I was also able to create a Herren Project Club at my high school and help raise funds to bring Chris Herren’s message to our school and community. I am so proud of all we accomplished.

I am the daughter of William and Jane Dowd and sister to Patrick and Quinn. I am very excited to run alongside my mother and to have my family and friends cheering me along on April 15th. Training for Boston has taught me a lot about pushing myself through difficult things and having the mindset to do so.
