Meggie Thomson
My name is Meggie Thomson and I work in Public Relations and reside in South Boston.
I chose to run Boston with Herren Project because I know firsthand what effect the disease of addiction can have on someone. I unfortunately watched the disease wreak havoc in my sister Katie’s adolescent and young adult life for what felt like an eternity. During those years, my family’s lives were affected in more ways than we could have ever imagined.
It’s thanks to Herren Wellness that Katie was given a chance at recovery — and thanks to Herren Project for instilling hope in our family again. The people that make up the Herren Project — and everyone involved in supporting it — is why I chose to run Boston. This organization means so much to my family, and running the Boston Marathon is just one way I am able to honor my sister’s recovery and help others find hope and recovery, too.
For fun, I love to watch the Bruins and play with my sister’s Bulldog puppy, Malcolm!
I am most proud of my sister and her commitment and devotion to life in recovery, and also my commitment to running the Boston Marathon.
Donate to Meggie’s 2024 Boston Marathon fundraising campaign.
