Rebekah Barricklow

From: I live in Wake Forest, North Carolina with my husband, Josh, and our two kids, Dean (11) and Riley (9).

What I do for a living: I’m a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. I’m also a hiker, a triathlete, a journal writer, and a business owner.

Why I choose to run Boston with Herren Project:
On April 18, 2018 I lost my brother Jim to a heroin overdose, after battling with addiction for over 20 years. In the almost 2 years since Jim’s death my family has sought to find a path toward healing and our own recovery. Last year we found that in Herren Project and the support it has provided. We have seen first-hand how vital community and conversation are, and what a difference Herren Project makes in the lives of so many. My hope and passion have been pointed at the truth that we cannot do this alone and only together can we truly recover.

The last time I saw my brother was in the Boston Airport after watching our mother run in the 2018 Boston Marathon. We took silly selfies and leaned on one another in a crowded terminal. I am honored to be a part of this impactful team, raising funds and awareness so that others like Jim and my family can find the support and resources that they need to recover and to take more silly selfies and lean in on one another.

What I do for fun (besides running and helping others!):
I love the outdoors and my couch, vegetables and pie, giving it my all and taking it slow.
