Sarah Swenson
My name is Sarah and I am currently living in Providence, RI as I finish my Physician Assistant program at Bryant University. I am hoping to pursue a career in orthopedics/sports medicine after graduation in March 2023. Outside of running, I enjoy playing volleyball, disc golf and going snowboarding as well as spending quality time with my loved ones.
This will be my second time running Boston with Herren Project, the first as part of the 2020 team. Participating with Herren Project has been the most inspiring experience, and a decision I am most proud of in my life. I choose to run with this incredible group in honor of my uncle Patrick, who my family lost to overdose on July 12, 2016. 21 years prior, this is also the date we lost my grandfather to alcohol addiction. I run to help create awareness and support for others who are suffering from the same disease. I also run to support individuals and families who have also lost their loved ones to substance use. I believe that with the work of Herren Project we can change the conversation about substance use and addiction to focus on hope, courage and recovery without judgment.
The opportunity to run Boston for a cause so dear to my heart is an absolute dream come true!
