Tara Estevez-Seickel, 51 year old from Old Tappan, NJ.
Tara is a Data Governance professional during the day and a Substance Use Disorder/ Trauma Recovery Coach during the evenings and weekends. Tara discovered Herren Project a few years ago when she was searching for, “her people” on LinkedIn as she was redesigning herself as an executive in recovery who had a heart that wanted to coach and help others find what she has, a full life beyond her wildest dreams! That redesign process led her to not only discover Herren Project, but to become a Recovery Coach for Herren Project as well as spark her interest in running the Boston Marathon with Team Herren Project.
Tara fell in love with running in 2016, at the age of 45. She has always been athletic, but never knew the magic in running until she trained and ran her first 5k for a local Recovery effort. She runs for her mental health. She has found no better way to connect with fellows, manage stress and get lost in meditation than to put running shoes on and head out into nature. Tara will be celebrating 11 years of continuous sobriety in July of this year. She spent 26 years in active use and relates that 26 years to the mileage she prefers to run in celebration of the freedom of active addiction. The extra .2 of the marathon represents the extra effort it takes to stay vigilant and treat her disorder to remain free and healthy, one day at a time.
To run the Boston Marathon, Tara’s third World Marathon Major, with Team Herren Project is beyond anything she could have ever imagined possible. But because she is in recovery and has the support of an amazing team, dreams that were never imagined, are not only imagined, they come true!
