A Junior-Year Reflection

As a junior in high school, I feel as though I can say that it is one of the hardest years academically, socially, and mentally in high school. As a Youth Ambassador for Herren Project, it is my responsibility to be someone that others can lean on for support and guidance, regardless of what they are going through. This year, especially, I am so grateful for the experiences that Herren Project has given me to improve the way that I deal with stress and mental health challenges.

How I Got Involved with Herren Project

At a club fair my freshman year, I was encouraged to join the Herren Project club at my school, and I am so glad that I did. I have gained so many new friends through the club at my school, and I have been granted many opportunities because of it, such as becoming a Youth Ambassador for Herren Project. I enjoy educating those around me about how to live a healthy, fulfilling life while remaining substance-free.

Staying Active for My Mental Health

One of my favorite things to do is stay active, whether it is with friends, my swim team, or my family. It is so good for your mental health and has been a great way for me to destress when school and life are overwhelming. I am on the swim and track teams at my school. Additionally, I did a 5k in the fall with two of my friends, and completed my first sprint triathlon over the summer. I hope that one day I will be able to do a race while representing the Herren Project, and always continue to show people how gratifying a substance-free life is.
