Bryan Rodriguez, Dayton High School, Dayton TX
Nominated by Ronald Wright
Bryan serves as President of the Dayton Chapter of the National Honor Society. He spearheaded and organized a campus-wide celebration of anti-substance abuse during the Herren Project Wellness Week. As chairman of this activity Bryan solicited numerous campus student organizations and hosted a dynamic event the week of March 2-6. This week-long event was even more significant this year, as it was the week before our spring break, from which we have not been able to return due to Covid-19.
This was our fourth annual “Purple Wellness Week” (purple and white happens to be our school colors). But this year’s event was by far the most involved and most spirited. The principal and I estimated that nearly 80% of our students participated in some way in the activities of the week. I believe this is due to Bryan’s leadership and commitment to anti-substance use and his ability to motivate others. I cannot image one more worthy of this award than Mr. Rodriguez.
