Gamechanger of the Month – Celebrating Our 2023 Donors
At Herren Project, we believe that connection and community are at the forefront of recovery. The quilt of our Herren Project community is made up of different, interlocking, overlapping, and imperfect patches that come together to create something beautiful, powerful, and resilient. Our donors are the stitching that binds these patches together. Hence, February’s game changers are the 5,607 people, organizations, and foundations that donated to Herren Project in 2023.
As a nonprofit organization that provides our services free of charge, our work is quite literally only possible through the generosity of our donors. Last year our donors came from all 50 states, as well as 9 countries and overseas territories. Gifts ranged in size from $5 to $35,000, with the average gift size being $218.
People gave to support a friend accomplishing a lifelong goal, such as the Boston Marathon. People gave to celebrate their own recovery. People gave to honor the life of a loved one whose light was extinguished far too soon due to this awful disease.
5,607 people with 5,607 reasons committed to one goal: a stronger, more resilient, and connected community where all people thrive free of the effects of the disease of addiction.
As we wrap up the first month of 2024, that commitment and resolve are more critical than ever. This January has seen a 353% increase in people reaching out for support compared to this time last year. While the need is unrelenting, so is the resolve of our game-changing donor community.
