Herren Project’s 2026 Boston Marathon Team

Every April, the Boston Marathon brings together runners from all over the world with one shared goal: to run with purpose. For Herren Project, that purpose is deeply personal.

This year, our 2026 Boston Marathon Team is made up of seventeen extraordinary individuals who are lacing up not just for the miles ahead, but for the lives those miles can impact. Leading the team are our founders, Chris and Heather Herren, whose decision to run the 130th Boston Marathon together marks a powerful full-circle moment rooted in recovery, family, and hope.

Each member of our team has a story. Some are running in honor of a loved one. Some are running because of their own journey. Others are running to give back, raise awareness about the disease of addiction, and help more people and families find hope.

Together, they are running for something bigger than a finish line.

A Team United by Purpose

What makes this team so special is not just their commitment to running 26.2 miles. It is the heart behind why they are doing it.

Each runner chose Herren Project for a reason. For some, it is about honoring someone they love. For others, it is about supporting a mission they believe in deeply. For all of them, it is about helping create a world where more people can find recovery, more families can heal, and more communities can become stronger and more resilient.

Their stories remind us that there is no single path to healing, but there is incredible power in showing up for one another.

Running for Recovery, Families, and Prevention

At Herren Project, we know that addiction does not impact one person alone. It touches families, friends, schools, and entire communities. We also know the ripple effect of recovery is just as powerful.

When one person begins recovery, families begin to heal. When families receive support, communities grow stronger. When young people are given prevention education and healthy coping tools, they are better equipped to build lives rooted in wellness and resilience.

That is what our Boston Marathon team is running for.

Their fundraising helps support Herren Project’s work to:

Every mile matters because every story matters.

Celebrating 15 Years of Herren Project

This year’s Boston Marathon comes during a meaningful moment in our history as we celebrate 15 years of Herren Project.

For fifteen years, Herren Project has worked to support, inspire, and empower individuals, families, and communities affected by addiction. What began with Chris’s story has grown into a national movement rooted in compassion, connection, and hope.

This year, Chris and Heather’s run reflects that journey in a deeply personal way. As they lead the team to Boston, they are honoring not only how far their own family has come, but also the thousands of individuals and families Herren Project has walked alongside over the last fifteen years. Chris is also featured in Bank of America’s Boston Marathon campaign in various places across the Greater Boston area, including Bank of America financial centers, billboards along the Mass Pike, the Kenmore and Park Street MBTA stations and Green Line, and The Prudential Center, helping bring broader visibility to the power of recovery, family healing, and the importance of building stronger, more resilient communities.
